Dr. Kirsten Setrakov graduated first in her class from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2019. She was honoured to be her class valedictorian. Dr. Kirsten completed her Bachelor of Science Honours in Biology with a minor in French at the University of Saskatchewan in 2015. She studied abroad at Roskilde University in Denmark in 2014. She completed her acupuncture training through the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University in 2020.
Dr. Kirsten is passionate about patient-centered, evidence-based care. She is Rock Blade certified, providing instrument-assisted soft-tissue techniques (similar to Graston). Dr. Kirsten is able to provide both manual and instrument assisted (Activator) adjusting techniques, as well as soft-tissue care, and rehabilitation exercises. She has training and certification in McKenzie technique, and Neurodynamic Solutions. She is able to provide Contemporary Medical (Neurofunctional) Acupuncture for the treatment of pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system.
Dr. Kirsten is enthusiastic about dance medicine. As a classically trained, competitive dancer for most of her life, Dr. Kirsten is experienced and sensitive to the specific demands and injuries of artistic athletes. She is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, and Healthy Dancer Canada. She has presented for the Canadian Online Dance Educators’ Conference, as well as the Canada’s National Academy of Dance Education Podcast.
Dr. Kirsten spends her spare time traveling, dancing, and checking out local coffee shops. She is known for her quirky sense of humour, complaining about Saskatchewan winter, bragging about being bitten by a shark, and talking about her corgis, Ollie and Oscar.
